Double Exposure
I used images from the expressive lighting project we did in term 3 and from my vacation to Jamaica.
In photo 1 both of the layered pictures have a light shining from right to left. In the expressive lighting picture the light source was a studio light and in the Jamaica picture the light source was the sun shining over the horizon.
I modified each photo by changing the expressive lighting photo to black and white so that the colors of the sunset weren't drowned out.
I merged the images together by changing the levels so that they were better matched. Also because the light was coming from the same area in both photos the light matches up. A ray from the studio lights is shining into Abby's eye and it almost looks like a ray of sunshine. It looks as if Abby is looking into the sun.
The images were related conceptually because to me the images were both very peaceful and still and that is the mood that the sunset image gives off to me and Abby has a very serious look on her face as if she is concentrating on the sun.
The concept this image gives off is a memory. It looks like Abby is remembering this place.

Photo Essay
The subject of my photo essay was my vacation to Jamaica for my aunt's wedding. I chose this place because it had beautiful colors and interesting things. It is important to me because it was my first time outside the United States. I am trying to portray the carefree and fun of Jamaica. My images capture the story of this vacation because they go from beginning of the week to the end showing everything from the plane ride there to the sunset the morning we left. Most of the photos are horizontal because there was so much to see I tried to capture it all. All photos have natural lighting. This series is unified because they were taken in similar areas and have a similar color scheme.
